I have not been able to find information to do this. What I need to do is to copy files and applications from one user account in Windows XP into another user account, then delete the first user account. This would include files and applications. What is the best way to do this? I appreciate your assistance with this. Thank you.

Go to control panel > user accounts > and change name

This is easier than creating another and deleting one.

I'm so sorry I wasn't more specific.

There are two existing user accounts. One is the main account but the other has some applications and information that need to be available in the main account so that I don't have to constantly be switching back and forth between accounts.

I wanted to know the easiest way to move the information from one account to the main account, then delete the other account after the applications and data have been moved to the main account. I am worried about overwriting data in the main account, so I wanted to know the best way to handle this. Thanks again for your help.

Information can be copied across as long as your access permissions are suitable.

Applications will probably have to be re-installed into the directory you wish to run them from. The reason being that there will be a lot of registry entries pointing to the old user profile and not the current (new) profile.

Thanks Linney, that's what I was afraid of. What a lot of work. Thanks for your help, everyone.

It would not be such a problem if the applications had been installed in the Program Files folder instead of in some User's specific folder.
