I have a user who has gotten a new PC at home. He needs to move his Outlook Express mailbox and all it's contents (e-mails and address book) to his new PC. What files (and where) am I looking to move to the new PC from the old one?
Thanks!!!!!!! RLee@NCDOI.net

In the source Outlook Express, create a new folder with a specific name. Do a find / search on your hard drive after that name.Check what version of OE you used on the old PC.
Create the new account on the new PC or use an existing one.
For OE5.5 you will find files *.idx, *.mdx and *.dbx.
Move these files tou the new PC.
Do a file/import/messages in the new OE, choose the right OE version.
All mails are now imported to the new OE.

In tools, options there is a maintenance tab and then a store button. This store button tells of where the users mail profile is. Usually in c:\windows\profiles\<username>\application data\identities
copy the folder from the root of the <username> - alternatively it may be in c:\windows\application data but the store folder will tell you.
Then when you create a new user account, or maybe when it is fininshed you can choose to import messages and addresses from another store folder. Browse to where you have copies it (CD perhaps?) and it should import OK..
