I just set up a new exchange 2000 server in the same site/organization - for hardware upgrade, and am using the move mailbox method to transfer all users over before decommissioning the current server (also exchange 2000). I have moved one mailbox as a test - the move was successful, and I can now send mail from this mailbox. Problem is this user cannot receive mail. Mail from outside the domain is coming in to the old server and is is stuck in a "virtual smtp server" mail queue, the queue says "destination server does not exist", but has the correct name for the new server, showing that it knows where the mailbox is. The server is showing up in system manager.

WHy can't the mailbox receive mail?

silly question:
Do you have the smtp virtual server running on the new Exchange server?
