Fellow Techies,

Is there any way to delegate a number of people to move mailboxes within Exchange 2003 Org? If yes, what permissions are required to achieve that?
I do not want to make these users Full Org Admins, but I need them to be able to move mailboxes between different Storage Groups and servers (all within the same organisation).

Many thanks.

Michael.

Exchange Administrator should do the trick. The above post is very vague in what you had asked.

Thanks TechyMcSe2k.

You are right: the post was a bit vague. I meant, is it possible to delegate such permissions using ACLs on exchange databases, user objects etc.

I am aware of Exchange 2003 somewhat limited roles. The problem is (and it applies to many Exchange admins) that this just doesn't give you the granularity required.

Thanks again.

Regards.

Michael.

The granularity is just not there. It's either view only (Exchange View Only Administrator), modify (Exchange Administrator), and full control (Full Exchange Administrator). MS assumes that if you trust your Exchange Admins with EA rights, then why the need for highly defined granularity. I believe the rights in Exchange 2010 provide a little bit more granularity that you are looking for.

If you are interested you can read up on it starting here:
