Move Mailbox is not in Exchange Tasks

I have just joined a new EXCH2K server to my existing 5.5. I am attempting to move mailboxes through AD Users & Computers, but that option is not in the tasks list. The only options I have is to delete email addresses, or enable instant messaging.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You're right, it's not to be done from the ESM. Moving a mailbox in E2K is done from Active Directory Users and Computers. From the ADUC right-click on the user and choose "Exchange Tasks". You will have a few choices:

Create/Move Mailbox
Modify Address
Enable Instant Messaging

If the object is mailenabled you will have an option to move the person. It goes through a wizard and is very easy.

Thanks for the reply, but as I first stated, I am using ADUC....The option to move mailbox is not there. If I create a new user in AD, it does ask to create a mailbox which points to the new EXCH2k server. I am stuck on trying to move existing mailboxes over.
Please help.

sounds like your exchange environment isnt aware that there is another information store to move a mailbox to. 01110000

Good luck bro. Mixed mode isn't very nice... I feel an ADSI edit coming on.

Our environment is starting clean and in Native mode. Mixed mode is so jacked it's not worth all the issues. Search tech net and use the forums at microsoft to get the nerdary to assist you with this issue. I would assume that your E2K box is running itself and acting like a 5.5 box. So you should be able to administer it from Exadmin 5.5. I vaguely remember some of the early classes I took on ADC and SRS and other clugy crap like that from ms pushing the whole inplace upgrade/mixed mode nightmare. God Speed and good luck.

Did you install ADC?

Then joined the ORG during setup of E2K?

Then setup a recipient connection agreement?

You have to install the Exchange 2K System Management Tools on the system you are using ADUC on in order to see the Move Mailbox, Create Mailbox, etc... Tasks.

I had the same problem you had r0nin82!!! I was not able to move the mailbox over.

I did use ADC and exmerge instead. Completely remove the Exchange 5.5 since it gave me a huge headache. Before you decide to remove 5.5, use exmerge to backup all your data.
