I'm doing a migration from Exchange 5.5 to Exchange 2000, and have managed to move all mailboxes across using Active Directory > Right click and choose exchange tasks > move mailbox. I'm having troubles on only 2 of them. I get the following error:

Error: Moving messages.
CN=<user>,OU=<user_container>,DC=<domain>,DC=lan:
An unexpected, unknown error has occurred.
MAPI or an unspecified service provider.
ID no: 80040301-0000-00000000

I've tried by logging on as different admin accounts in case it's a permission issue, but no joy. I tried exporting the mailbox to a .pst in order to perhaps create a whole new mailbox as a last resort, and that worked.

I get the feeling it's some kind of permissions issue or a corruption in the mailbox. Are there any tools or utilities I can run? And has anyone seen this error before and been able to fix it? I found a similar error on the MS KB but nothing on this particular error code.

Thanks for any help you can give.

I think you will find it an issue with those mailboxes. Are there any other errors in the Event logs?

No, event viewer is not very helpful. It just shows the same error message as above. I have one event saying it's starting to move the mailbox which is just an info message, then the error message above.
