mouse moves all over after ram upgrade

I just upgraded the ram in a system and now the mouse pointer moves all over without touching the mouse. Why would changing the ram cause this?

Is that the only 'odd' thing happening? Does it happen in safe mode? Is it standard mouse - no extra software with it? Have you tried another mouse? New RAM may be slightly incompatible with existing?

Sorry for the lack of info.

It is a MS mouse with no MS software install. Just the basic HID drivers. Winxp. I have not tried in safe mode.

I just got a call from the user saying that unpluging it and repluging it back in works now.

More than likely the cable to the mouse came loose during the ram install.
