Mouse movement blocks application 1

Hi, I have an IBM R60, and I recently got this odd behavior where my applications will stop responding whenever I move the mouse. In firefox, flash animations will hang if I move the mouse, then continue playing when movements stop. In a game, same thing. Microsoft Excel too. So I guess it's not an application bug, but it has something to do with OS or driver ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated !

What type of Mouse is it, make, model, etc?

Try for updated drivers, or uninstalling and re-installing the current drivers.

Can you try a different mouse?

Is it a recent enough occurrence that could be tackled with System Restore?

Problem Fixed !

System Restore seemed like the best idea, but I did install some important software since the bug started. So I ran Spybot and Adaware, fixed a couple of cookies and registry keys, and after rebooting, the problem was gone !
