Has anyone else encountered this?
A USB mouse with a ps/2 adapter on an NT workstation: periodically the cursor will go completely mad, flying all over the screen and popping up context menus, and will then stick in the top left corner of the screen.
The problem is 'resolved' by rebooting the computer.
It's difficult to force a PC to replicate the behaviour. I've encountered this with MS, Logitech & other makes of mouse.

Any ideas welcomed.

I have seen this same problem, my resolution was to replace the mouse.

Could it be the usb ---> ps2 adapter? CNYTech

Have you tried reinstalling your mouse drivers? I had this when I put a switchbox in. Reinstalling the drivers seems to have resolved the problem so far.... -----------------------------------------------------

I had this problem with some users who were going through a KVM switch. They had to use extensions for their PS2 mice. One of them had accidentally knocked the wire which caused one of the mice to become unplugged. When they tried plugging it back in, the mouse did exactly what you've described above.

All its down to is that PS2 isn't hot pluggable. You can sometimes get away with it, e.g. boot your computer up, unplug and plug it back in and it fine, but the majority of times it goes dodgy.

I'd try switching off your computer, unplug the mouse and put it back in making sure its secure....or replace the mouse if the port is dodgy...

Regards
