I have a destination system and my mouse does not work. What should I do to trouble shoot it. Two different mouses have been used. So where would I go from here?

Thanks.....

What kind of mice have been tried??? PS2? Serial? USB?
If you have tried PS2 then try Serial or USB, see if they work.

Ignorance is not necessarily Bliss, case in point:
Unknown has caused an Unknown Error on Unknown and must be shutdown to prevent damage to Unknown.

Check for bent pins on PS/2 and serial connectors. Make sure serial port or USB is enabled in the BIOS. USB probably won't work with Windows 95.

They are ps2. I am using a gateway destination with a wireless mouse and keyboard. A receiver for the keyboard and mouse plugs into both ps2 connections into the back of the computer. I also used another ps2 mouse. I am having major probllems with this system too.

Does any know where I can find just the driver for the mouse. I have checked a win 98 cd and the recovery cd and didn't see it. Better yet I didn't know what to look for.......

win 98

Generally speaking, for a basic (non-wireless) mouse you shouldn't need drivers. If you're running programmes at the DOS level then you might need a driver, but not in Windows.

With, for instance, a Logitech mouse you may get a CD with software to add a few extra facilities to mouse operations, but ordinarily basic functions need no added drivers.

I'd try and get the PS/2 port working with a basic mouse before you start adding the complication of a wireless device. Can you check out your basic PS/2 mouse on a friend's system? Then at least you know you're starting from a simple standard mouse that works.

Like what? - the mouse problem may be a symptom, not a cause.

Have you tried serial & usb mice as suggested?

Beofre attempting to go the wireless direction first make sure that the PS2 ports arent the culprit, as i suggsted before, try other types of mice. USB, Serial, if either works, then its most likely the port that is malfunctioning, and throwing more PS2 mice (including wireless combinations of mice and keyboards) at it wont help.
