I have created a program with Clarion 5.5 EE with three relational browse boxes. They were created with the ABC Templates using the browse wizard. My program worked perfect until I downloaded and installed the c55ee07ful.zip patch. The reason I installed the patch to start with is because my HTML Help was not working correctly. The patch fixed my help problem but also created this problem.

In my browse window when I use the up and down keys from the keyboard, my mouse cursor shifts to the left. I have created a capture.exe that clearly shows this problem. I have captured mouse cursor before and after the patch was installed.

I know for a fact the problem has to be the patch because I can uninstall the patch and my problem clears up.

Is there any way I can post this capture.exe to this site so you can see my problem or can some one help me with it.

Thanks Benny

Hi Benny,

Are you using XP? There is a setting in Mouse Properties which ask you whether the mouse should automatically find the control or something like that i.e. make the mouse cursor intelligent (Enable Mouse Precision). Just turn that OFF.

Hi ShankarJ

Thanks for responding so quick. Yes I am running Windows XP. Sorry I didn't mention that. I am also using a Microsoft 3 button optical mouse with scroller wheel. It is running on the Intellipoint software. You were right when you said my mouse setup is causing my problem. It is the 'Enhance Pointer Precicion' checkbox. When I unchecked it my program works fine. But since I am creating a demo program with a 30 day trail period, how am I going to release it knowing other people will likely have the same mouse setup as I had.
Like I said the problem occurred after I installed the c55ee07ful.zip patch. Until then it worked perfect except for my help screens, that you also replied on thread192-1324692. The patch fix that problem, but started this one. I can uninstall the patch and it works fine again with my mouse setup the way it was from the start. If there is any other way of fixing this, I would like to know. I am afraid if I release my program to other people, i will start getting phone calls about mouse cursor problem.

If you know any other way of fixing it please tell me.

Thanks a lot
Benny

Hi Benny,

The simplest solution is to document it in the FAQ or Trouble shooting section. I am sure the the mouse cursor movement although irritating will not take away the main functionality of your application. Also, your user's computer may not display this behaviour depending on the OS/mouse driver they are using.
