We are having an issue with one of our clients that I would like some input on. The client is running Windows 95 and Office Suite 97 with sr2. When he opens Word and begins typing the mouse cursor disappears. This happens randomly and is usually resolved by closing Word and reopening it. The mouse disappears when it is an arrow or a straight line text cursor. It does not affect the functionality of the program it is just annoying to the client. We have already checked all the mouse settings and installed the driver again. I would appreciate any information on this issue.

I believe that was a problem with word and some track ball mice. You might want to check with the mouse manufacturer and see if there is an updated driver (if you havent already). The other thing to do would be to rename the normal.dot file to normal.old and reopen word so it will recreate that file. It may just be that the file was corrupt.

Hope this helps! Chuck

We have tried both of those steps already. The mouse is regular Microsoft PS/2 and I have recreated the normal.dot but the issue is still arising. Thank you for your help.

I had a similar problem in Word 97 running on Windows NT, usually when I was working on long documents with quite a bit of formatting. Problem wasn't particuarly critical but a bit annoying! My problem was solved by bunging a bit more RAM in the machine. It was for another reason we upgraded the RAM but it solved that problem as well
