Bit new to Linux so this may be a daft question but....
My linux server seems to have lost it's connection to the attached medea drive. The drive has a lot of important data that I can't lose, if I remount the drive am I likely to affect any of the data on there. I think it should be OK, but would appreciate it if someone who knows what they're doing could confirm.

Thanks

Mounting a drive or share doesn't write any data to it, so it won't affect it. What kind of drive is it?

SCSI Medea drive, has been mounted a couple of times before, so I think it's losing a connection of somesort somewhere. Just not sure why.

Does it say anything in the logs, /var/log/messages?
