When the share points to / everything works except /home and /media mount points are invisible.

Main drive is mounted
/dev/sda1 / ext3 rw 0 0

When I try to use the mounted drive I get:-

Mar 15 11:13:17 asterisk smbd[21746]: [2006/03/15 11:13:17, 0] smbd/service.c:make_connection_snum(615)
Mar 15 11:13:17 asterisk smbd[21746]: '/home' does not exist or is not a directory, when connecting to [general]

Secondary drive is mounted same as the first drive
/dev/sda3 /home ext3 rw 0 0

I have no trouble walking this mount on the local system.

permissions are :-
drwxr-xr-x 9 root root 4096 Mar 10 11:04 home
drwxr-xr-x 4 root root 4096 Mar 14 10:00 media

Share is configured :-
[general]
comment = Public Stuff
path = /home
public = yes
read only = yes
write list = @general paddy
create mask = 0765

Any suggestions would be welcomed.

Further investigation indicate that symlinks are also not working. So help in helping that might solve the other issue.

Thanks

Paddy

You may add the following line in your smb.conf file:
[tt]follow symlinks = yes[/tt]

Hope This Helps, PH.

I'm having trouble with this but it has nothing to do with following the symbolic links.
in smb.conf

[share]
path=/home/share
follow symblinks = yes
wide link = yes

#### Version 1 (WORKS)
# ln -s /home/other.share /home/share

#### Version 2 (DOES NOT WORK)
# ln -s /mnt/hdb1/shared.mounted.drive /home/share

when I try version 1, everything is fine but when I try to get the symbolic link to follow to the mounted drive, I get an error when I try to connect using smbclient:

NT_STATUS_BAD_NETWORK_NAME

Redhat 7.3
Sambe 2.2.12-073

Any help would be much appreciated.
