Anyone know aught of this one?
The online ".pdf" reference manual lists the motherboard part number as "286411-001". That shows 2 DIMM slots, rather than the three the literature describe...
I have tried emailing Compaq with questions and all they can do is respond with something like: "What's your serial number? Oh, that one shipped with a PII-300MHz CPU and 48MB RAM..." but I knew that...
I don't want to feel badly towards them; but they seem unwilling or unable to answer my questions!!
It takes a Slot-1 CPU and there are companies that offer upgrades to Celeron--if you know a bit about the motherboard...
So, if any of you out there have a Presario 4850--or have a friend or relative with one--could you tell me about the BIOS, dip switches, etc.?
Many thanks!!!
