Hi everyone, I have a customer who has a sx200 he says got hit with a power surge. I tried a restart, no go. The console shows a minor alarm and no clock data. The system has no dial tone at any extensions, but I do have talk battery. This should be more than a minor alarm I would think. Next time I go to the site, I will be able to check the power supply as it is clogged in a corner and a ton of stuff in front of it. I should be able to pull it out and check voltages, although they seem to be there and I tend to think this is a processor card issue. Any ideas would be great. I worked on a sx20 and a Sx10 years ago, I am pretty sure I can find my way through the programming. Any help, thanks in advance. Should I try a full reset and reprogram? Yes, I can go across the analog stations and see the light for that station on the card, but there is no indication of much life at the console. Thanks much... brad

try pulling out one card at a time in the first 8 slots, and see if the controller loads. you might have one card causing the issue.

The batteries are most likely dead on the main controller card.

No database.

Thanks for the quick replies. I tried pulling all cards other than the ones to the far right, battery card, console card etc. basically they were station cards and still no go. I go along with the batteries being dead, but would there not be dial tone on the extensions by default? I can get and replace the batteries. Now how about the console, no life there. I take it if the processor card is messed up, the console will not work right either. So if I do a full reset on the system, replace the batteries and program some extensions, I may get dial Tone? Will any of the light status on the processor help out? Thanks. Oh is there a way to talk to this unit via serial port and software or maybe procomm or something? Thanks brad

I want to thank you guys for your help. I also would like to thank the Mitel Guru I contacted who happened to be in the area of the Motel and stopped in and got the console working. That's a plus. I am going tomorrow to see what else I can do with it as there is no dial tone at any of the extensions. My guess and the Guru guy is that I may be in PFT mode. I also could have a bad tone card which I was able to find. One thing for sure, the data base is kaput, so if someone would like to guide me on the forms. 5 trunks, answer at console, room status, ring at console, dial 9 to outside trunk.

I now know the default password is 7771 which I was worried about. The firmware is 217. Going to down load the books tonight.

The Guru removed the CPU card after powering down the system.waited for about 15 minutes for the caps to discharge and put the card in and the console came to life. The fact the system booted tells me all defaults should be in place.

Thanks to all the responses, I will replace the ram batteries. In the mean time. any other info to help me move forward is greatly appreciated. Brad

I used to always intialize and make sure the lights went out in order prior to programming

Hi Jpruder. Remember I have a head of cobwebs right now with this thing going back 40 years or so. I can hunt through the books, but can you provide a little more info on the init so I do it right. Good chance its all clear now, the battery pack was removed with the card out. Is the init you are talking about the 777x procedure? The one that clears the blocks of ram? Thanks Brad

Hi guys. Was at the site yeasterday, was able to get more intimate with the unit. It would boot to #42 on the scanner card. I do show a major and minor alarm. I have a err coded E021-20-001-000 On the console. The idea of it being in power tail mode dropped whan I saw the card there and not even being used. There is nothing but power to that card. So the deal is I do have dial tone on my test line and maybe one other. I just got the tone card I ordered, so that is next to get changed out.
I can’t dial anything via the test line as I have no data base. Does anyone have examples of programming sheets that I can follow as an example they could share?
I tried very hard to do a simple task. I tried to program the time. I followed the MAP and it will not change the time.
Don’t know if it needs to be in programming mode or not, but it seemed to follow instructions.

I have my work cut out. Not one of the blocks or terminals have what wires go to what room on them. The scheme may have changed from the original install so I will probably have to buzz out every single room so the room number matches the extension number. Thanks for any help to get me started here. Brad.

With the help of some of you, I went from knowing nothing to knowing enough to make it work. The system is up and running. have some issues, but I do have dialing at the extension.

My test line I placed in a COS by itself. Not sure what caused it, but when calling from it, the call errors out at the second digit.

Other issue is an E6 error on the console when programming Equipment # 9-16. The book says alot about this, but I basically have a card that seems to not be recognized. Yes, I have reseated the card.

another issue is the dialing of 0 from the extensions. I get an error when I try and add it to the system.
I am told I need to add 0 or #1 or #2 to the dial-in form
.

Any ideas, thanks much!!!
