Does anyone know how to increase the length of the motd banner? My Motd gets cut off. The router in question is a 2621 running IOS 12.0(2)T3

I'm using a # as the delimiter. It doesn't appear anywhere else in the message. I'm guessing that there must be a character limit, but I can't find it documented anywhere.
I think (don't quote me on this) you can go up to 200 or 250 characters before your message will get cut-off so to speak. (note you have to include spaces and however many characters fit into a line, like if you double spaced lines however many characters fit into that line are part of that 250 characters)
Again this could be something that I totaly dreamed up in my head. But I could swear it was something like that.

I count 250 before my message gets cut off. It must not be the same limit for all versiuons of IOS/hardware. I have found a number of warning logon messages that are longer. (for instance the recomended message from sans.org) I was just wondering if there was way to have longer messages....

Hmmm.. It hadn't occured to me either. I tried it, and it looks like it is subject to the same limitations. but... the MOTD and the logon banner are displayed consecutively. If I put half of the message in each banner, the limit is 500 characters.. Kind of a work around, but at least I could display the message that I originally intended.

HI Everyone!
My First Post!
Got the motd banner length figured out,i was having same issue until i noticed what happened when the line finished and i hit <return>...it started a new line! i think its a 250 carachter set per line,mine ended in the middle of the banner so i just erased where the sentenced ended ,hit <return> and pasted in the next until the line was full,edited it to sentence end ,then hit return again! i used the Command ; 2507(config)#banner motd #
(then filled it up with text)and ended with # for deliminating.Hope this helps,it was bugging me too!
