What do you guys think is the most popular system used and installed in the HOTEL / MOTEL enviroment.

What do most customers and you vendors find the most stable and reliable even the older systems.

LG-Nortel ipLDK-100 or 300 in hotel version.
In the US of A this product i named: Vertical Vodavi XTS

///doktor

I have seen a lot of Mitels. I reviewed the history of the Mitel and it seems that this was the Hotel/Motel product that the old Bell System installed in all their lodging. I pulled up some install docs on these and they are step by step installation everything from how the system will be shipped, how it will arrive and it what type of box how to remove it from the box and so on and so on.

The installation instructions very very detailed. I was impressed. I have never seen an install manual so well written. It is very Bell System like.

I am considering Mitel for my lodging product line because it is very compact as far as the analog line cards are concerned.

The one thing I do not care for is the operator Console. The design is very old.

Is there any other options for the front desk or hotel operator as far as Operator Console design options. Are the front desk and department telephone sets a current design?

Without knowing what you are looking at, how can one comment. What type of console? Part number? Description?

because based on my experience off how customers react I know that any older style looking technology has raised eye brows from my new prospects. I have had clients say things like "that looks old" even if ut us brand new and right out of the box.

Depending on the number of rooms and telephone lines, the Avaya Merlin Magix can be used in a Hotel/Motel setting.

I [love2] "FEATURE 00

what is the max a magic can handle. also does it have any hospitality features our PMS interface?

We have put in a few Avaya IP Offices with DuVoice for the Hospitality and have had pretty good luck.

The Magix tops out @ 80 lines & 200 extensions though a single system cannot achieve both limits simultaneously.

I'm not sure of the exact scope of the hospitality features, but there are several members who do. [smile]

The primary downside to the Magix is that it’s discontinued. It was replaced by the IP Office.

Lots of systems have the features that a hospitality environment is looking for but traditionally mitel specialized and holds the vast majority of the hospitality market niche. That still holds true today.
If you are looking for a voice solution and you are in the hospitality business you Mitel should be a contender and a definate consideration.
You should compare multiple vendors however as Avaya and cisco and other moanufacturers commpete in that marker as well.

is rhett a large selection of parts on there secondary market to service the older systems?

working in the Hospitality industry for the last 11 years, I have seen mostly Mitel and Avaya. I have worked on the old Hitachi HCX series as well but they are really old.

if customer is looking for IP/VOIP systems then I have seen Mitel predominately cause of the features offered and believe it or not, at alot of high end and resort style properties, I have seen Cisco Callmanager with a 2nd software application that does the integration with the PMS and CAS systems. The call manager doesnt have a built in integration and requires this 3rd party software to communicate with these other sytems.

I have also see Asterisk and Freepbx for smaller properties that wanted that modern look to the telephone system.

To error is human.....if the machine doesnt work, then KICK IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!

do you find mitel easy to. for example can system programmingbe fine from a set or the operator console?

Re:==> "do you find mitel easy to. for example can system programmingbe fine from a set or the operator console?"

Not programmable from a set

SX-200 can be programmed from the superconsole (But not recommended)

SX-200 / MN3300 Can be programmed via Web Gui (prefered method)

SX50 Console Programming. Simple
SX200 Console or VT100 Emulation programmable. Simple
PMS supported
The super console is not dated. Ivory white looks nice.
Very durable.
ONS voicemail integration easy.

Does the front deak actually need an coperator console. Lets say if it is a smal lodging facility. can they use a small multi line set?

What does the opcon provide?

Depends on the hotel requirement but I would suggest AASTRA MX-ONE for big hotels (more than 250 rooms)

Avaya CS1000 is the BMW of Hotel/Motel systems in my book....

I've seen it used at countless Marriott's across the world....the latest hotel I stayed at was a JW Marriott and they actually used Nortel 1120 E IP phones in each room.

The system, while expensive with the 11xx phones, is failsafe and reliable.

Just my 2 cents.
