Good evening hoping someone can help. Looking for a formula which will identify the most frequent text value based on a lookup. The example I have all date for June with 4 different times and conditions. I want to get the most frequent description for that day with the date being a variable so on the summary tab I can enter a date and it will look to this data tab and that date and find the right description. So if on the summary page I said report on 06/02/10 if would bring back the result *Sunny*

Column A Column B Column C
06/01/10 6am Cloudy
06/01/10 1pm Sunny
06/01/10 5pm Cloudy
06/01/10 10pm Rainy
06/02/10 6am Cloudy
06/02/10 1pm Sunny
06/02/10 5pm Sunny
06/02/10 10pm Rainy

Sorry looked up frequecy and not sure how to apply it. Any suggestions? I keep getting a value of zero?

On second thought, I would use a PivotTable,.

It can rank the count of each day's observation.

You must insert a row of headings.

My results, took about 15 seconds...

Count of Obs
Dte Obs Total
6/1/2010 Cloudy 2
Sunny 1
Rainy 1
6/2/2010 Sunny 2
Cloudy 1
Rainy 1
