Sorry for posting in here, but usually the Microsoft certification forum only gets read by people who are interested in O/S.

For someone in a support role, would taking the MOS (MOUS) courses help in any way? Do you have to complete all exams (Word, Excel, Access, Powerpoint and Project) before becoming certified or can you just take specific ones and become MOS Qualified in that field?

Thanks for any advice. Lamaar75@hotmail.com

I am MOUS certified in each of the Microsoft Office 2000 applications (Access,Excel, Word, PowerPoint & Outlook), but you can become certified in any of those programs individually if you care to. (There is also a MOUS certification for Project and possibly Publisher). Word, Excel & Access exams offer two levels of certification- "Proficient" and "Expert".

I have not taken any courses specifically geared toward taking MOUS exams although I'm sure they are very helpful. I found that user-experience gained in business or classroom settings, PLUS SELF-STUDY was plenty of preparation for these exams.

I recommend the Exam Prep series from Coriolis as a handy study aid.

Thanks for taking time out to explain. I think I will complete the Access and Project ones. Am I right in thinking that if you complete the Expert in Word, and Excel and complete three others then you become an expert?

As I understand it: Passing the Word, Excel & Access "Expert" exams plus PowerPoint & Outlook exams qualifies you as a "Master Mous".
And if you have taught Microsoft Official Curriculum (MOC), you can submit documentation (plus fees) and qualify as a Master MOUS-AI (authorized instructor).
See Microsoft.com for details.
