It sure is amazing how quickly we can turn a molehill into a mountain. This suggestion is so clearly ludicrous, that I can't believe that anyone here is so blinded by their own prejudices to think that this measure is destined to be taken seriously.

Let's hope that it does bring more attention to an issue that needs attention, which in turn could lead to reasonable solutions to the problem, hopefully on an international level.

Just read that on slashdot. Hypocrytical comes to mind. I'm more worried about the overall trend to try to get the internet regulated like broadcasting. All these little moves.... I don't know its like surfing at night. You can't see the wave....but you just know its coming.....you can feel it, the aura just seems to sweep thru you.

I just can't get even the slightest bit upset about this issue. I guess probably because I've been in to many meetings where I have suggested implanting electrodes in the keyboard to make users stop hitting certain key combinations, or other solutions similar to blowing up offenders computers...

Oh, man, Steve... that's funny stuff. Can you imagine if they had been in the process of passing this law? Hatch makes his statement, law gets passed, the server in his office blows up... that would have been SOOO funny...

I highly doubt this server is sitting in his office, it's more likely that this is the central web server for the senate. Take a look at the address. Also, I doubt he built his website himself, this was probably someone we would see hanging around the HTML or CF forums who has a job with the govt making senators websites for a living. Bet he got an earful from Hatch when this whole thing came up

I agree with Tarwn. I'll bet the Senator went ballistic when he found out. I also wouldn't be surprised if there is another person in the unemployment line either.

Someone once said in a thread a long time ago, in a galaxy far far away, that they wouldn't be concerned with a maintenance technician looking over their hard drive because they were sure they hadn't some anything wrong. Are you sure? Can you ever be sure that no one else has donething something wrong that will reflect on you.

After reading the statement from Milonic, there seems to be some confusion about the licensing rules with respect to Government sites. They were free at one time, and what is not clear, is the timing of when this site started using the code. In any event, the vendor has closed the issue.
