More Crystal Reports web questions

Thank yous for your help on this Crystal Reports thing. But let me be a little bit more specific on what I'm trying to accomplish. I want to create a dynamic web report using Crystal Reports. I have never used Crystal Reports before but from your help and a lot of practicing, I have figured out how to create a dynamic report using Crystal Reports.

My next step is to turn this report into a web report so what I need to know is what do I need to have or do to make this possible? I currently just have a client version of Crystal Reports installed. Do I need a Crystal Reports Server installed as well?

If I do need the Crystal Reports Server to make this web report possible, do all my report files stay with a rpt ext? Or do they need to be converted to htm or html? If they can stay as a rpt file, how is it possible that it can be viewed through the browser?

I'm sorry, I'm very new to this so I'm very lost

There are numerous options based on the version of Crystal you're using, and how you want to deploy the reports.

Share with us the version of Crystal, and what you want to provide.

There's a companion product called Crystal Enterprise (CE), and if you own CR 8.5, you received a limited functionality version (CE 8.0) with it.

If a Crystal Report viewer needs to be downloaded on every machine that will be viewing this report that I create will be a problem. Because the computers on the shop floor are locked and programs can not be downloaded onto these machines, unless someone logs on as an administrator and download the Crystal Report viewer to each machine, which is about 300.

They don't have to use a Viewer, the default is DHTML, though this causes printing problems, as with any document viewed by a browser.
