I have just received some (MORE) troubling news about Avaya and their business partners. I have been dealing with an Avaya business partner over the last couple of years with my maintenance assist program. The news that I received today was Avaya is forcing all of their business partners to give Avaya their maintenance contracts. No more maintenance through business partners. There is a rumor that Avaya may honor the current contract pricing, but that is not a definite. It doesn’t sound like much but this is around a $.10 per port difference. That adds up. I should find out more in the near future and will try to keep all of you up on what is going on.

I really hate this. Since dealing with this vendor I have been receiving the best service that I have had in 8 to 10 years. I hate to think that I will be at the mercy of the new Avaya techs in my area. I believe my secretary knows more about my switch than they do….

I haven't heard this one. We just signed a maintenance contract through a business partner. We plan on keeping a limited maintenance contract with Avaya or their business partner even when we move closer to self maintenance.

Something to think about signing a agreement with a business partner. If the agreement is totally with the partner with no Avaya input, then if the business partner goes bankrupt, Avaya does not even provide warrantee support.

I work for a Business Partner and the rumor is totally false in regards to us giving Avaya our maintenance contracts. Avaya is not forcing partners to give up maintenace contracts.

Thats the word I got from my Avaya business partner yesterday morning. (Universal Solutions.) As I find out more I will post it.

Strange it seems that over here (Netherlands) they have a completely different strategy. All the servicecontracts are being turned over to businesspartners (except for some really big ones)

There are also non-business partners which provide more options than the typical Avaya offerrings. The only large one I know of is Walt Medak's group but I'm sure there are more. Just get plenty of references. I'm not sure of the website but I'm sure it's on google. It's strange that Avaya changes it's stance of maintenance almost yearly and they still can't figure out how to do it right.
