created a shipment report, need to be sequenced by month, like Jan, Feb, Mar,... but when grouped by month, it automatically put "Apr" as the first then "Aug", then "Dec"

any idea to let the month sequence in natual?

Thanks,
Frances

If you are using Crystal XI I know this works .. not sure what the other versions offer...

Menu Item > Report > Group Expert

select the grouping you want
at the bottom select options
in the drop down box select specified order.
then select the specified order tab.

whups I didnt mean to hit send yet ...

from there you can specify the order.

Without doing this I believe Crystal tries to sort them alphabetically....

You could also group by the date field on change of month and then change the group name in group expert->group options->customize name to:

totext({table.date},"MMM")

wouldnt that still sort it alphabetically?

Consider this one:

Month(Date ("2007",{@Yourfield} ,"1"))

Then group by this formula.

The 'Date' portion converts your text to the date, then the month function converts it to a number.

CoSpringsGuy,

No, if you group on the date field, it will sort in chronological order. Then you can customize the group NAME, to show the monthname.
