Hello. As a newbie to the administrative side of Exchange 5.5, I need help with a task. I must monitor 2 user accounts to determine if they are abusing email privileges.
Both. I need to monitor the two users email to each other, and one user's email to his wife.

Before the Rant..... for in bound messages just add an Alternative Recipient (YOU) and deliver messages to Both otherwise only you will get the mail.
For sent items, Go into Recipient Properties - Limits - Deleted Item Retention - And change this to say 10 days. Then once a week or so recover the deleted items.

Be VERY VERY VERY careful when spying because in the UK if you have not made them aware that you are monitoring you are breaking the law. No ifs, no buts it is illegal under European law, end of story.

I've been administering Exchange for about 6 months now and never had the need to figure out how to get into others emails. It's kind of disappointing to have to do it, but the employees in question were warned that this would happen. They continue to abuse the system, and were told on Monday they would be monitored.
To retrieve deleted item, go to the Deleted Items folder. Next click on Tools, Recover Deleted items.
If possible, give the offenders supervisor permission to open the mailbox. That way the supervisor can do the monitoring, and you won't have to be the one doing the dirty work.
