Monitoring Unix with SNMP

Hi all,
I'd like to use SNMP to monitor a the performance of a Unix machine. Does anybody knows how to install an agent (demon) that support hostmib for Unix?

Iam having problem with my dialup network on a client m/c.
On w2k direct connect can be use to dialup device.
