monitor/video problem?

hi just installed xp pro, loaded in ok until the welcome screen came up and the monitor went into standby.xp kept loading to the desktop but blank screen.tried different monitor and video card still no good.Sometimes the desktop comes up but screen is fuzzy and unreadable any help thanks
 
Windows XP default to 800x600. Do your monitor and video card support this resolution?
 

Can you boot it in safe mode and use regedit ?

Set them right

Dword values (hex values)

Values
800*600
XResolution 800 equals hex 320
YResolution 600 equals hex 258

1024*768
XResolution 1024 equals hex 400
YResolution 768 equals hex 300

Refresh 60 equals hex 3c
Refresh 70 equals hex 46
Refresh 72 equals hex 48
Refresh 75 equals hex 4b
Refresh 85 equals hex 55


There might be multiple sets depending on the number
of logins/accounts.
