I have just built my self a new computer and everything works fine except when I reboot(restart) the computer the monitor turns off and does not come back on. To get the screen back up I have to turn the computer all the way off and then turn it back on. I dont know if this is a video issue or what but its bugging me. Please help.

I have the Radeon 8500 128mb card in there if that helps.
Thanks in advance

I don't know if this will help, however, check the standby in the power options.
Maybe you could disable it and see if that helps.
I don't know if the BIOS setting for standby or such would help but you might one check it out.

Good Luck

Everybody seems to jump right at video settings on a problem like this BUT.......

The most important bit of info to get you started on a fix is to answer this question:

When you restart, the monitor does not come back up. However, is the computer still booting (drive lights come on and off, you can hear activity), or is the whole computer not restarting (resulting in a no video status)? ----------------------------------------

the computer does reboot(lights flashing and so on)

Good. Then in that case, we are more able to assume that the rest of the hardware is good (not guarenteed, but....). At that point, do like lilbpaw says and check video/standby options in BIOS.

Personally, I would try a different monitor and video card in the system (1 at a time). This will give you an idea of what exactly you need to deal with! ----------------------------------------
