Monitor the IT Department? 1

how can i monitor the IT departments actions on the network/server

ok heres the story behind it.
i noticed that 1 user hasnt been loggin on/off the network with the network cable in meaning that their profile hasnt been updated. so i asked her if she is having problem. she is a memeber of the human resource department and has been doing it on purpose as she thinks people can then have access to her files on the server (true only for the IT department - i.e. ME)
So my question in more depth is how can i assure her by proof that i havent been in her profile and copied/read any sensitive information etc....

can this be done? we are running a windows 2003 domain with xp pro clients.

I think safety in numbers ask another manager do go with you to expalin it to her, hearing it from more than one person (especialy not the person who has the access may help)

I also explain that the reason IT have access to all data is to scan it for virus's and keep HER data safe. Also for backup purposes and netowrk security - hackers -"She would want an external hacker accessing her data would she?? So you need to protect it for her"

(there are many reason why you need access that she may not understand like profile corruption), but give her simple reasons, that will make her want to give you access

thank you all for your thoughts. i think she understands but i get the feeling she doesnt like it still. but nothing i can do on that. just makes me wonder what she could possibly think she has thats sooo important.

maybe a story will appear in the paper that she is a goverment operative and thats what she was hiding.
