Is there a command from overlay to check for system uptime downtime for weeekly or monthly report? Avaya sytem has command "disp sys cust" and "disp cap" to show system uptime. Just wondering if Nortel has any equivalent commands.

If none, how do you keep track of system uptime for multiple switches? Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks

I had a sign in my department to "compete" with the IT folks (this was back in the 1980s).

Their sign said "Days without Downtime - 12" (appx. average) They changed their sign every day.

The last I remember, our sign on the Nortel environment said something like "Days without Downtime - 3012"

We re-did our sign every 6 or 9 months.

As for such a command, you'll need to do it manually because most "outages" do not cause the system to go down. You can go for many years without an "outage" by some definitions.

Each monthly report, just add 30 days to your number :)

Thanks for quick reply GHTROUT. Please elaborate more on how you do it manually. By way of history file and you have to check all the system on daily basis?

I am guessing you have never managed one of these systems before? I mean, they are not Windows Servers. They stay up for months and years without so much as a hiccup.

I guess you have to define "uptime" vs. "not up"

The way I keep track of it manually is I estimate (or know) the last time the entire system was inoperable, then I add the number days it has been since that date.

There is no command for the PBX itself but I think there is a command in the signaling server but I don't remember at the moment what it is.

I have had some systems that the only time they have gone down was when I have performed an upgrade or some other type of system maintenance and that is over a period of years.
