Monitor Stmi cards

Good morning all,

We just had an event where our Stmi cards for 2 shelves went down and caused calls to have no audio.
I had been monitoring with the Openscape Assistant , Gateway Dashboard , and everything looked Green and READY.

Even when the STMI cards were down, I ran another Gateway Dashboard and it looked Green and READY.

Is there something that I can run to monitor All of the STMI cards and their PRESENT condition.

I do not trust the Gateway Dashboard any more after today.

They do support a basic level of SNMP, but I generally don't get a whole lot of data out of them - I'm not sure the MIB files they give you are "all that". You have to go in and set up a community and give it read access, and then whitelist the computers that will be trying to access the card. You can HTTPS to the IP of the board and use HICOM/HICOM or TRM/HICOM depending on which board you have. They use Java and can be kind of whiny about which version of Java you use. Older OS releases might work better with Java 6, and the newer releases play better with the newer versions. It can also be picky about which browser you use - I have a frozen copy of Firefox 51 that I use for most of my admin, and I think older versions of IE might work as well. I basically just monitor them to be sure they are "there" at this point - I've never got too many stats off of them.

STA-HISTA:SEARCH; should give you the faults that happened.
Ensure that the Loadware is up to date for every card - use the Assistant Gateway Manager to check
 
Hista is almost the fastest alarm output, but you have to be watching it.

You should enable SNMP reporting from the Assistant, and that'll send hista messages to your SNMP receiver. You will get a lot of messages at first but you can tweak that from the SNMP control in the Assistant (and of course from the RMX config). This isn't browsing the STMIs with SNMP, it's receiving hista over SNMP.

Fastest alarm output is the users, they let you know there was no audio pretty fast I guess. After that, you check the hista.

I am pushing for a Display monitor that will constantly show some HiPath data that we can look at while work in the office throughout the day.
It is usually 2 of us that go onto the hospital floors troubleshooting issues and many times we are not in the room with the HiPath system so we don't get to see when something is wrong or errors are starting.
We are constantly in and out of the office but I figured if we had a Monitor displaying data, we can look at the present condition of the HiPath as we go in and out of the office.

We prefer for the users NOT to find out the issue first, since we go into chaos mode with doctors, nurses and Administration calling us and visiting us and telling us to get the system or issue corrected right a way for fear of any Patient Care issues in the hospital.

This is why I continue to look for something that we can help us detect any serious issues with the HiPath before it affects the users.

Also, daily I run Date, Refta, Vadsu and Bcsu but I don't see anything that detects the TEMPERATURE of the HiPath (I used to run a command in the ROLM 9751 for this).
Is there a way to see the Temperature/Internal Temperature of the HiPath system in both Assistant and AMO?

VoIP payload and signalling quality is a pretty complex issue to investigate.
For voice quality issues (half path,ho path,bad IP quality/connectivity additional analysis must be considered :

- check STMI board status (READY,UNACH)via RMX:
SDSU (PEN) or DIS-BUEND :,b; if STMI GW/trunk
- look in HISTA (PEN) for relevant errors : F5749 ; F5417; F4461 ; F5258 ; F5915 ; F5750 (also if IPDA is involved) .. see ALFE
- in case of trunks (HG3550): check for F4066 error messages with byte 0 = 1B (Gateway temporary NOT AVAILABLE) :
CHA-CTIME:TYPESWU=CP2,GWNAVAIL=...;
- in case of HG3530 (HFA devices : Openstage,Optipoint) check also SW versions for telephone devices.
- Wireshatk traces (via mirror port till V5) would also help
- GW traces/logs from HG WBM are useful also (depending on specific issue, different Trace profile components can be selected)
- LAN infrastructure must be checked also (bandwidth,jitter buffer,packet loss ... )
- codecs config needs to be checked on boards and devices (G711,G729 ...)

For temperature:
F7085
F7084 - FAN Error


 
The 4K will output temperature alarms to HISTA if there is a problem, if it's too hot, if it can't make the fans fast enough, slow enough, etc.

There isn't an AMO to read the temperature but because of the Linux OS I imagine it could be read. I've never bothered because no hista - no problem.
 
I think you can see the processor temperatures in the portal, and on the CPU display if I remember correctly. Of course that requires you to do something to see them. :) I was having some fan issues for a while and I know for sure you can see the temps and fan speeds in the portal under Sysinfo, I believe. The portal might be V6 and greater - I can't remember if there was a portal when I had V5 or not.
