I have a P4 2.8C processor and im using an ecs pt800ce-a motherboard. 1 G sdram (2 x 512 mb apacer), 256 mb vdram (nvidia fx5500) 80 G sata hardrive (seagate) LG dvd witer and an Asus cd writer. i have a 300 watts power supply. I checked all my hardware and everythings ok. My problem is that after reformatting my comp i noticed that its too slow considering i have a 1 G of memory. When the xp logo appears it would take me 3 minutes to see the log on screen and sometimes my monitor losses signal from the cpu. my cpu lights still on but my monitor is off. How can i fix this problem?

When you say "reformatting the computer", do you mean that you reformatted the HD, or you upgraded one or more of the computer's components?

reformatted my hd I have a brand new hd

Check that all connections are secure, and reseat all cards(specifically the video card) making sure they're fully seated.

i reset my vidio card. why is it that my pc so slow to boot?

if i have an ide controller error what hardware should i lookt at? i have a sata hd.

Ill try to change my ps. you mean power supply? i checked my event viewer and there's a couple of warning message that theres a disk error an I/O error and paging file error. I have a brand new sata hd

If all connections are secure, and all cards are fully seated, then it's also possible that the new HD is defective. Go to the Seagate site, and run the diagnostics on your HD.

My seagate hd is fine. do you thinks its the motherboard?

this is the error and a warning that appeared in my event viewer (atapi and disk error)

An error was detected on device \Device\Harddisk1\D during a paging operation.

im using win xp without any service pack

Thanks for your replies. The error in my events viewer is gone now after reinstalling windows with sp2.
