Hello

Does anyone know why my monitor would be emitting a high pitched noise? And more importantly, how does one stop it?

Thanks

Bob

It will stop when it quits working if it doesnt burst into flame first.

Obviously, I have no Clue!

You may want to turn it off when not in use. If you do not like my post feel free to point out your opinion or my errors.

My last one made a noise for a while, just before one of the colours decided to stop working and I was left with a very orange looking monitor screen (eyestrain was incredible).

The previous post is therefore very true (probably), and it is likely that what you're hearing is the cyber version of the human condition known as "Death Rattle" Regards

Please tell me if the answer I gave was helpful to you. Without your feedback I don't know if the answer was correct.

The noise of the monitor is due a Close-2-Death high voltage transformer.

If that thing burns-out it can severly damage the cirquitry on the monitor. If i were you, i would spend a little money and take that to a repair-man to replace it.

Of course the replacement will not last more than the original part, not mentioning that it will cost the same money as a brand new monitor (unless you have a really PRO type, say a SONY 19" 100Hz Flat).

Anyway be prepared to replace !!! Michael Manos

The monitor is an NEC E1100...and belongs to my employer. The weird thing is that when I bring up the digital controls on the screen, the noise stops. Well, if the thing blows up, that means I can roast some marshmallows for an afternoon.
