This one seems kind of weird.

My computer (Athlon based, VisionTek Xtasy G4 Ti4400 - nVidia Ti440 based graphics card, Samsung SyncMaster 1200NF CRT monitor) works great (from a video perspective) under Windows XP Pro (non SP1).

However, when the computer is not in Windows mode (reboot, BSOD, etc), the monitor rarely syncs. I get the usual rolling screen, which is almost impossible to read. Power cycling the monitor has no affect on this behavior.

There do not appear to be any monitor settings that I can adjust. Are there dispaly driver settings I should change? Can you offer some assistance in helping to solve this problem?

Thanks.

Do you have the most current drivers for your monitor? If not this can help cause the problem your talking about.

JimmyJohns,

Its happening when the computer is out of windows - therefor the driver is not loaded - so it cannot be a driver issue.

Have you tried using the monitor on a different system?

No, I have not tried it on another computer.

I called Samsung today (per Jimmy's recommendation - their web site said to call regarding XP drivers). The person with whom I spoke, naturally, blamed the problem on the video card. He also said to use the generic plug-and-play monitor setting (which I cannot find...)

Hello, I'm from Austria, so I'm sorry for my English ;-)

Do you have solved your problem? I have the Syncmaster 1200NF too, with exactly the same Problem, and I don't know what to do...

Greetings!

No, I still have the same problem and I now know for certain that it is a fault with the monitor, not the video card. (I had the opportunity to plug another monitor into the card - it worked just fine, thank you very much!)

Maybe I should call them again and see what they say.

p.s. Prophetus - your English usage is better than many of the youngsters in this country...

I also know for certain that it is a fault with the Monitor, because the thirst thing I tried was to use The Monitor with another System.

Greetings!

I had a problem losing the monitor upon reboot. I installed the proprietory drivers for the monitor and haven't had a problem since. Hope it helps.

Scooterb:

Your response is quite intersting for two reasons:
- First, where did you find Samsung drivers for XP?
- Second, the drivers don't load until after the system POST's, so how could drivers have any affect?

Anxious to hear your response!
