Is there a way I can have open on my desktop, a webpage with javascript which opens a specific webpage of mine, recognizes a change in last update, or text, and change is recognized, initiates opening the page and sending to printer. Of course I know the print dialog will come up.

Scenerio...If I have a page with a poll on it.....
The email address, and poll results are saved to a frontpage results page. (pollresults.htm)

I would like the page itself, or a seperate page, to monitor it for a change.

If a change, or new poll is made, I want it to send to printer.

HELP!

Dont want to buy web monitoring software, don't trust it collecting and sending info elsewhere.
Prefer a rudamentry javascript solution.

why not have a basic binary switch (on/off or 0/1)...

for instance...

create a text file that has a the value '0' in it...

when the user changes the page, creates a poll or whatever action, have a script initiate that writes to your text file a '1'...

on your browser window that is monitoring the site, have it check the text file to see what the value is...if it's '1', then print and reset the value, if '0' do nothing.

how about that?
