Monitor integrated Microphone problem

Hi,

I got a Compaq presario 7954 running win XP. The problem is when i had win 98 i could always use the microphone thats inside my monitor but now it doesn't work anymore and i have no idea how to fix this..

Any suggestions?

Check it in the sound control panel
It shall not be checkmarked.
If is it's muted .
it kind of depends on you sound device where you find it.
Usually you can right click on the speaker symbol in the tray ,and choose "open volume control"
Choose options ,properties , recording , check the mic (so it will be shown) and make sure it's not muted.

I've already tried this but it wont work. The Line in was on mute and i de-muted it but still nothing could it be that the mic needs a special driver?

Try:

Control Panel, Regional and Language Options, Languages, and try enabling the Microphone under Text Options.

I tried what bcastner said but i couldn't find anything my microphone in Regional and Language Options..

then i followed the whole tekst soaplover found and i noticed that when i enabled microphone in the volume control it was muted but this was not the problem cause it still wont work..

tried it wouldn't work either .. i think i'm gonna buy a cheap microphone today, maybe this one is broken?

Is there not a seperate Microphone input on the sound board? Line-in does not sound like the best choice.

Lol i found out what it was.. somehow the microphone wasn't connected at the back of my monitor.. Stupid i should've checked that first, thanks voor all the help.
