I need to find a tool or something to monitor my internet connection bandwidth usage. Is there such a thing? My service provider can only get me stats a month old with monthly and daily totals for usage. I need to see nearly realtime usage. Help?

Packetshaper from packeteer, will also allow you to limit at app level too.

This server is hosting terminal services and nothing else. No IIS or Exchange.

Does this effect what tools I should use?

ascotta

How can I get a copy. In Canada? Is there a purchase and download option? How Much?

Bandwidth monitoring tools capture all the packets leaving the interface, it doesnt matter what applications are using. Whatever application it has to be either TCP/UDP.

But make sure when you configure the monitor to capture port numbers corresponding the applications

I need to be able to see if/when the wan access at the router level is max-ing out. Say, Cable connection allows for 512 mb transfer speeds. I need to see when that is maxed. Total pipe usage. If there is a problem here, then I'll look into what apps etc are causing the max out.

Its a hardware solution. $muchy. However it is brilliant. I would find a Citrix reseller(probably gold or distributer) and they should be able to help you out. They should be able to provide at least an eval.

Packeteer product is hardware/software based appliance and runs about $15G to $20G

ANyone suggest a cheeper comparable product?

What about perfmon.exe (Windows utility) looking at the networking performance counters?

We use NetEnforcer, it's very similar to Packeteer but a bit cheaper I think.
