After RMA'ing my monitor, i am getting fed up.

I just recieved my second one and i get these kind of waves moving to the top of my screen... To me, it might be something like a vsync problem... But then again, it goes on and off...

My vendor i dont think understands real well, and is telling me to RMA it =/..

Any ideas?

I have checked the cables twice...

Too Little info:

My monitor is XXXXX and supports ?? refresh rates; resolutions?

My PC's video is XXXX and can be set to ??? refresh rates, ??? resolutions.

I am connecting using ??? (VGA 9pin, DVI ???)

It exhibits this behaviour only when I ????? or even if it is just at the desktop with no action on my part???

and so forth

My monitor is an ag-neovo cw-19 widescreen. it is set to 75hz. 1440x900. it is an lcd screen. dsub. it goes on and off.

Check newegg for it.

Is it anywhere near a TV, Speaker, or any other electromagnetic field? They all can wreak havoc on a monitor.

My tower is right next to it... But... It is liquid crystals.. It shouldnt be doing this.

Be more specific about "But then again, it goes on and off..."...

Can you detect this patterning before it gets fed the Windows video drivers, i.e. at the basic DOS level?

Could it be RF interference from whatever? Cordless phone, nearby CB or ham radio?

Maybe you've just been unlucky and got yet another bad 'un from the supplier.

Try a mains filter unit on the power lead to the monitor, or try putting ferrite rings on the monitor's video and power cables close to entry point.

I can't really tell at dos if it is or not... Because it is mostly all grey. and what is a ferrite ring?

What about in the BIOS - you often get a few colours displayed there...

A ferrite ring is, as the name implies, a ring of ferrite material that is used in many electronic pieces of equipment to block or absorb unwanted RF signals travelling along a cable or conductor. They can be 2mm beads with a small hole through them, right upto large rings of 2 inches or more in diameter. Here are some examples:-

The exact make up of the ferrite material will determine the frequencies at which they are most "absorbent" or will reduce.

Some of the more expensive monitors will have a "lump" in the data cable near where it connects to the video card. This "lump" is a ferrite ring or ferrite sleeve.
