Mom Bar 97 - Quick View instead of Executables

When I click on the Mom Bar buttons, intead of getting the requested application, I get a Quick View display of that executable.

All the apps launch fine from the Start Menu, so the programs are installed well enough... Copying those shortcuts to the Mom Bar makes no difference, so it appears to be a Mom Bar issue. Even a button/link to a non-office app has this same behavior.

I smell a registry hack, but I didn't notice anything when I searched through it. Anyone else run across this problem?

If you only use the programs, turn it into the Programs bar. Right-click. Customize. Click on Toolbars. Take checkmark out of office, put it in programs. Start removing all the programs you DON'T want.

Not a fix but a temporary workaround. I always use the Programs toolbar anyway--not the Office one.

Rats! It didn't work. I even created a brand new toolbar and that didn't work either. The results are exactly the same. Reinstalling Office didn't help either.
Now I'm thinking this is a Windows issue...

If that's the only place it is happening, then just reinstall the Office shortcut bar.

If you think it is a Windows issue, then maybe you need to clean up your hard drive? Email my CleanHardDrive@Home.Com account and get an autoreply with complete instructions.

'Nother test: If you completely recreate the button by adding (not checking it off in the list, but completely re-adding one by browsing to the executable for it), does that button work?

A fellow Tech here found the problem! It was indeed a Windows / Registry issue.
The key \HKeyClassesRoot\*\shell\QuickView needed to be removed. Everything works fine now.
