I am trying to change our current MOH. I have a wav.file that I am sure is set up correctly and using val manager 6.0 to place the file. When I try to call the new announcement I connect but quickly disconnect. (I can see the name of the announcements but disappears quickly.
We have two val boards housed in differen't G50s. I checked and we have plenty of time remaining.
Currently we have two 8800 servers running 6.01. On a side note I recently updated from ASA from 5.2 to 6.0 which has the Announcement Manager built in.
I have tried both cards and different extensions.
I changed the MOH a couple of years ago with no issues. Any thoughts?

The first thing I always check is the format of the WAV file, even when I'm sure I did it right the first time.

The steps are similar for other audio programs but in Audacity, you first set the Project Rate (Hz) as 8000
Use File/Export Audio. Set the Save as type to Other uncompressed files and click Options.
Set the Header to WAV (Microsoft) and Encoding to U-Law.

That was the problem, I was using Alaw when I should have been using Ulaw. I can know get the file on the val board and listen to it but I can't seem to have the new file over ride the previous MOH. I though if I just renamed the old file to something like test and named the new file MOH it would work.

Any ideas?

Depends on how you upload the announcement file - I suggest you delete the entire announcement and create a new one from scratch.

I used to use filezilla to upload announcements through file-xfer now I just go straight to announcement in ASA - more user friendly

hope this helps

I am using announcement manager in ASA (6.0). I do not want to delete the new MOH because it was professional done. It was my understanding that MOH name should automatically work if the file was formatted correctly.

You can backup the announcements and wav files in ASA. I would recommend doing so you can always undo your changes.

I agree with Avaya3 - you can set up a whole new announcement and set that as your music source - change music-sources.

It's a little harder but you can upload your new file with a new name and change the announcement name to match.
For example, Let's say your music source is announcement 9999 on board 001V9 and the name is "Music". You can view all the announcements on 001v9 in ASA and the result looks like a spreadsheet.
Set your new music file to a different name, such as "Music1.wav" and use the Restore button to upload it to your board. You should then see it listed toward the bottom as just a Name with the Extension and other columns greyed out.
Now, edit the name of announcement 9999 to match the file name "Music1" and Save. Say "no" when prompted to change the file name. You should then have Announcement 9999 pointing to "Music1" and the file "Music" listed at the bottom as just a file.
