I have an S8720 installed with G650.

I want to use an external MOH source.

is it possible to use an MP3 reader.

means that I connect the MP3 reader to the USB port in the front panel of our S8720.

Yes, you can do it one of two ways. To connect an external music source such as an MP3 or CD player, add the announcement as shown:
ANNOUNCEMENTS/AUDIO SOURCES

Extension: 19664 COR: 101
Annc Name: C/S Ads on hold TN: 1
Annc Type: aux-trk-m Queue? b
Port: 11C1704

The PORT is an available Aux trunk port on a TN736D card.

OR you can record 1, 2, or 3 minutes of music onto your VAL announcement board TN2501AP and set it up like this:
ANNOUNCEMENTS/AUDIO SOURCES

Extension: 19218 COR: 1
Annc Name: MEQ_ON_HOLD TN: 1
Annc Type: integ-rep Queue? b
Group/Board: 02A06
Protected? n Rate: 64

Keep in mind that 3 minutes of hold music should be plenty, because if your customers are on hold much longer than that, you have other problems you need to address. We use it to "advertise" to our customers about our other services.

Why does the light always have to be at the end of the tunnel?

You can also terminate it on an analog port (TN793), from analog port connect your Music coupler which is purchased upon buying the avaya equiment. Then from music coupler terminate it on your MP3 Player or any radio.

Wiring:

From Analog to music coupler: 1 pair wire, by which the other end is terminated in 110 block where the TN793 is terminated, then the other end is RJ45 interface.

From music coupler to MP3 Player or Radio: 1 pair wire by which the other end is RJ45 interface and the other end is terminated on a jack plug-in to the headset of the mp3 player or radio.

no, you can't use the USB port on your S8720, you need the MOH interface/coupler, connected to the an anlog station port, then you do a "change system features" and there is a spot to specify the MOH location, set it to "port", and type in the port # (01A0424 for exmaple)
