Hey folks, I have a MICS system and want to get MOH working. I've bought the mono cable from Radio Shack but need help on where to install the cable. From everything I've been able to find on this site, MOH needs to be punched down to specific ports. Any direction to a visual installation guide of some sorts would be greatly appreciated. I've attached a picture of our setup to see if it would help any of you guide me via the thread.

Thanks in advance!

I'm going off memory. If you turn Backgroung Music on, and press ftr86 on a phone, you'll hear if you have it on the correct pins. Start with Y/Or, might be Y/Gr.

Thanks Dewey. The color combos would help if the wires were colored but the wires behind the block are all white and blue. Now, if you are referring to a different area where there are colored wires, then I will need some help with that. If there is some kind of reference picture where the typical colored wires are on the block, that would help as well. Or, if anyone has a picture of where their MOH is punched down on their block, I assume it would be the same if all blocks are wired the same. If I'm reaching into a reality that doesn't exist with my assumption that all blocks are wired the same, then I guess I'm not too surprised. I'm just trying to figure out how best to get the information I need. Visual is best for me with my limited background in all of this.

It is Y/O pair, you can count down 17 pairs from the top of the block, that will get you there.

also make sure that your looking at the 2nd amp cable that is for your stations (where port 125 would start)

Thanks to everybody who've replied. Jerry, thank you for the links. That will help a lot. I'll post how it comes out.

It should be the(high impedence output 600 or 900 ohm )like the headset jack from your radio or cd player. (not the amp out4 ohm output.)

Alright guys, we got the MOH device in and I've got it running. Now I'm trying to figure out where to punch it down. You've all said the Y/O pair (17th down from the top on the second amp cable) but I can't figure out which block is hooked up to the second amp cable. I assume it is the one on the far top right since that's where the other amp cable is connected but I don't get any music. I have turned on the Background Music and set the On Hold setting to music in System Programming->Feature Settings and then I have someone put the extension in the office where the system is on hold to listen for the music and nothing. I preview the music on the device and the music is definitely playing. I have plugged the cable into the 600 Ohm (white) RCA-type connector on the back of the MOH device. What am I missing guys? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

should be 2nd block, with nothing on R/G and below to your connection

Bob,

Thanks for the reply. Did you by chance take a look at the photo of my setup from the original post? And, just to clarify, there are a total of 50 pegs which is the 25 pair that previous people have referred to. Correct? If that is the case, then pair 17 should correlate to peg #s 33/34 vertically. Am I to punch down 33/34 vertically or 33 and the peg to it's right (second out of four rows of pegs)? And when punching down, it shouldn't matter what wire gets punched down to which peg because it's a mono connection, right?

Jeremy

The second block has 8 station connections on it and than toward the bottom you have the moh, page port etc. count down 17 pairs of terminals or 34 posts down from the top, the 17th pair or 34th and 35th post are the muxic inputs. turn on MOH and Background music in programming, then call into your main line and have the receptionst put it on hold for you. as you are listening to the silence then connect up the music source to those pins and you should start hearing sound in your ear as you listen. adjust the output of the music source to a comfortable level for MOH.

It works!!! Thank you so much for your help. This is the best part about the internet in my opinion.

I was wrong. it was 33/34, this is what comes of only counting the pairs and never counting the individual pins
