Modular Messaging Storage - Avaya or Domino

We are looking to install a new Modular Messaging system and would like to know the benefits and drawbacks between Avaya or Domino message storage. (Retention time issues, space, etc)
Still up in the air for the storage solution. All thoughts, opinions, or experiences would be appreciated.

We went for the MSS solution simply becuase it was simpler than upgrading all the disks on numerous site Domino servers.
The downside of that approach is that it stops you using some of the more advanced features. You don't get a universal inbox, it's a seperate Notes app to listen to your voicemails, which is just a Notes front end to an IMAP4 client with the media player built in. Saying that, it works fine on XP, not so well on Windows 2000, not supported on Notes 8 yet but it seems to work.

You can't really get the MSS servers to interact with Notes except via SMTP. I think if you use Domino as the store you get more flexability, the ability to get closer to the Unified Comms Nirvana.

Oh, and I think it has implications for user management as well. On our system the MM user DB is held on the MSS, I'm guessing the Domino version leverages the Domino user DB.

I would go with the MSS backend everytime from the ones I deal with it is always the domino and exchange MM's we have the most trouble with . . .
