Modifying the in band signaling

When the Merlin Magix sends a call to integrated voice mail it also sends DTMF digits to signal the type of call being sent. Can this string be modified? So instead of #03##EXTENSION NUMBER# I can send just the extension number?

Every time I've had to integrate something else to a Magix or Legend, it was the "something else" that changed the way it talked to the Legend / Magix. I don't theink there is any modification of this.
