I have never heard of groupwise before yesterday, but I have to create a solution that will allow a user to get an html template from an email, save it, and then modify it as needed to send out a monthly newsletter. She wants to do it in Groupwise because that is where all of the mailing lists are currently maintained. When she sends the newsletter, she can't lose the template because she will need it for the next newsletter.

My users do this in GroupWise 6.0 all the time. One of our web people created about a half dozen templates for the various newsletters we send out. The templates place the cursor at a defined spot and allow the users to insert the text for the newsletter there. The templates are just HTML code that has been saved in a shared common folder that everyone can access. You just insert the template code into the E-mail message area, the template is still in the origional folder.

Perfect. I knew this was very straight forward in outlook, but I just wanted to verify the solution for Groupwise.

How exactly is the template code referenced in the email to be sent? Is it used like a style sheet (inserted in the same manner)?

Thanks!

Not being a web coder it is just a matter of placing the cursor into the message area and point to File/Retrieve and finding the already prepared HTML document. GroupWise 6.x knows how to display the code. In a sense it is a Template/Style Sheet.
You might want to check out and look at Formativ Runtime with an optional addon called Stationery that helps you save and manage a library of HTML Templates. You can Download a 30 day trial.
