Apologies in advance for failed searches. Frankly I need direction at a basic level.

So our receptionist knows how to answer calls...

Inbound lines a,b,c, and d appear on her console as "Happy Company" so she'll know to greet them as if she works at Happy Company.

Inbound lines d and e appear on her console as "Shiny Company" so she'll greet them as if she works at Shiny Company.

What commands get me to where I can match incoming numbers with the text displayed at her console. I know how to do stations etc., but this is obviously a different ball of wax.

Thanks very much in advance.

They may be configured as Vector Directoty Numbers (VDN). Do 'list vdn' and look for the names. If they're there, note the VDN extension. Then you can do 'change vdn [extension]'.

Thanks much but no dice. There's three VDNs listed, but none of them applicable to this behavior.

Thanks again but no dice. Of course shows trunks but nothing meaningful in those trunk settings with regards to this question. No idea how this text is defined for her console.

It could be a hunt group and the call is coming through to the hunt group. It could be a terminating-ext-group too.

Could you trace the call inbound (from the trunk -- see what extension it dials when you call in) and see the path it takes inward? That will surely show you something.

Also could try finding any usage of your main DIDs extensions, say you are 800-800-2000, do a "list usage ext 2000" and see if anything with the names you are looking for come up.

Is this the Soft Console? You probably have a master directory, check with the Configuration Manager (should be installed on the same PC)

Thanks again for the ideas, but still no dice. I'll get Avaya involved for a fee and post up later for posterity's sake.

Hey Mumphster -- instead of engaging Avaya, why don't you check out a local business partner to wherever you geographically are? They are likely to treat you a bit better than Avaya will.
