Here is the scenario:
We are using Commvault Galaxy 6.1

The user has indicated that they have saved the file on our file server over the last few months. The user also has print outs that would show that this is true.

They noticed the contents were wrong and asked for the file to be restored from the last time they modified the file.

We pull the tape from the following nights (of the last time modified) full backup that was 100% successful. The file on the tape is the same as what is currently on the file server and has not been updated for many months.

We know the backup was successful as we can restore other users files from that modified date range.

Any ideas or help is appreciated.

Sorry, got confused on one of the sentances, are you saying that you have restored the file from the backup following the last modified date? If so - wouldn't you have to restore the file from the backup prior to the modified date?

@Psy053
We have restored the file from a nightly backup after the modified date and also before the modified date. Both files were the same.

@theravager
This was a regular full backup, not a synthetic, incremental, or differential.

Hi

MAybe you juwt aren't selecting the correct dates...Firstly, I'd do a 'find' on the fs iDA subclient of the filename & select to view all versions...then check the modified dates on each file

Hi

Maybe you just aren't selecting the correct dates...Firstly, I'd do a 'find' on the fs iDA subclient of the filename & select to view all versions...then check the modified dates on each file

@birky

We have done a find on the ida. Only 1 version of the file is found.

In situations like this, I've often found that the issue lies with the user who has managed to inadvertantly save the document somewhere else (usally locally) and has been working on it and saving there ever since.

When the document disappears out of the recent documents list, the user will then open the file from the original network location and wonder why all the changes have disappeared.

@Psy053

This has been our suspicion all along. We just wanted to make sure we weren't overlooking something.
