Modem sound stays

I was able to get the modem to work with a generic drive....but the static sound of the modem comes thru the speaker even after connecting...WHATODO
 
Hey - same here! I also get no little monitors in the task bar where you can see what speed you're connected at and where you right click to disconnect. I've also found that the connection drops out then redials with a minimal change in the noise level.
It's frustrating to say the least.

Any help very very much appreciated!

In the extra settings box of Advanced Modem properties, put: M0L0 (that's M zero L zero). Cheers,

i have the same problem too. my rockwell modem worked fine on windows 98 but when i upgraded to win xp it started making this noise when i connect to the internet. i have downloaded the appropriate driver from but still no use...
