Modem Setup/ USR 33.6/ Option 61C

I need modem setup help for an opt 61c using a us robotics 33.6 modem. I searched and seen similar but not for a 33.6 to an opt 61c. Thanks in advance

Configuring the U.S. Robotics Sportster 33.6 Data/Fax Modem
Northern Telecom has commenced shipping the U.S. Robotics Sportster 33.6 data/fax modem with
Meridian 1 systems. The modem is contained within the NT1R91AA Modem Kit. The U.S. Robotics
Sportster 33.6 modem must be configured as defined below to function properly with the Meridian 1.
Please note that the configuration procedure for this modem is different than the procedure defined in
the NTPs. The NTP section relating to modem installation is found in System Installation Procedure 553-
3001-210, "Connecting a system terminal (and/or modem)."
Please follow the instructions documented in the NTPs to install your modem with the following
exceptions:
• Do not use the modem configuration commands documented in the NTPs.
Instead, use the following procedure to configure the modem.
• Do not attempt to open the modem in order to change internal settings.
No internal jumper setting changes or hardware adjustments are necessary for proper
operation of the modem.
Configuration Procedure for U.S. Robotics Sportster 33.6 Modem
1. There are (8) dip switches on the rear of the modem. Set switches S1, S3, S7, & S8 in the down
position, the rest in the up position, see illustration below.

2. Connect the modem to a terminal or personal computer using a 25 pin RS232 cable.
NOTE: It is not recommended to use a PC unless it is certain that the serial port of the PC can be set to
9,600 baud. The actual serial port rate may not be what is indicated by the software on the PC.
3. Set the terminal or personal computer serial port to 9,600 baud (8 data bits / no parity / 1 stop bit ).
4. Turn the power ON to the modem.
5. Using the terminal or the terminal portion of the personal computer communications package, issue
the following AT command.
AT&B1&W&W1 <Carriage Return>

6. Turn the power OFF to the modem, and disconnect it from the terminal or personal computer.
7. Set the (8) dip switches on the rear of the modem as follows. Set switches S1, & S4 in the down
position the rest in the up position, See illustration below.

8. Connect the modem to the Meridian 1 system as instructed in the NTPs.
9. Turn the power ON to the modem.
NOTE: Assure that the SDI ports, the modem is connected to, are set to 9,600 baud and set up for DTE
operation, Core ports on J21 are fixed at 9,600 baud and DTE operation.
The modem is now ready for communication with the Meridian 1.

power down modem
Set dipswitches

power up modem
Open Hyperterm issue at make sure you get OK
enter command:
AT&B1&W&W1
Power Off Modem
set dipswitches
1,4 Down 2,3,5,6,7,8 Up
Connect to TTY port
Power Up Modem
