I installed a modem and software. I now get a message saying "modem resources conflict with another hardware. Please change your configuraton. error 1006" What configuration? What port should modem be on..com1 or com2?
There is no printer, etc. loaded at this time.

HI
Your modem might be using COM2. which the motherboard may also have. Yuo have two alternatives.
1. Set the modem jumper to use COM4. This is not posible if it is a WinModem without jumpers.

2. While restarting the computer.. get into BIOS setup and disable COM2 of motherboard. Save and restart. This shall be ok.. so long, you dont conect anything to COM2 port of motherboard.

So Ramani, I should not use COM2 but rather COM4. Is COM4 the port of choice? I did get it to work using COM2, but I will change it.
